I also appreciate how this mod improves cav charges and makes infantry charges more realistic. The AI in this mod is superb, and I have yet to find a mod that has such a good campaign AI that actually utilizes diplomacy so well. I'll end this long wall of text by recommending that you try this mod out for yourselves. You really have to play it yourself and form your own judgement.
Don't even get me started on heavily-armoured units. I got sick of having to wait 10 minutes for two units of spear militia to finish their slugging match. However, as time went on, it got annoying. At first I enjoyed how slow it took for two units to kill each other, as it gave me time to enjoy the kill animations and appreciate the game's engine. Each unit has a ridiculously high amount of defense, so expect to wait a long time for an enemy unit to die. I'm talking about how it takes an extremely long time to kill enemy soldiers. I'm not talking about how fast the men swing their weapons. Turkish horse archers will demolish your spearmen, wipe out your spear circles, and can go head-to-head with your Byzantine lancers with a good chance of coming out on top. On VH/VH, your men WILL get steamrolled by enemy cav. I know horsemen were extremely strong in the Medieval period, but it gets ridiculous. Feudal knights, pikemen, spearmen, everything is almost useless against cavalry, even light cavalry. A unit of light cavalry will slaughter a unit of armored spearmen. Unfortunately, there are serious issues which almost ruined the game for me. The horsemen will rush toward the enemy, but sometimes, right before they clash, the cav will stop in their tracks for a second and then hit the enemy unit. However, on the down side, the cav charges are sometimes weird. You won't have cav that can't break the first rank anymore. It rams into the enemy unit and penetrates the ranks in a realistic way. On the good side, when a unit of cav charges, it really charges. The way cavalry charges is both good and bad. The campaign AI is superb, and the battle AI is also very decent (I actually lost battles in which both me and the AI were even, both in terrain and army size. For example, Russia will almost always control all the land between Novgorod and Kaffa, while factions such as France and Egypt will both control vast areas. By late game, you'll have several superpowers ready to crush you. No more weak, two-province factions late in the game. The AI focuses more on conquering territory and expanding. It also forms large empires to rival yours. It forms alliances, actually honoring them and helping friends. The AI builds massive armies to invade your lands. WARNING: VERY BIG WALL OF TEXTįirst off, the game is much more difficult. I've played a good deal of Darthmod, so I'll give my two cents. Yes, I can Google it to find out more, thanks. And I don't want enemy militia to have the same attack and defence stats as my knights, merely because of boosted stats from difficulty level. People say they prefer Very Hard battle difficulty, but I don't, because I don't want my own units to rout under conditions where equivalent enemy militia units fight to the death merely because they have boosted morale stats from difficulty level.
they complain about AI factions declaring war on them "for no reason", when the reasons are pretty clear to me. Yeah, people complain about stuff, and rave about stuff that I feel different about. Popularity is a matter of subjective taste, which differs from person to person.
Justin Bieber is popular, too, and many of us don't like his music. Yes, but popularity doesn't mean everyone will like it.
That could mean just about anything, and not everyone wants to download a pretty large file just to find out if it's something they might like. Winxperror, saying that it makes the battles legendary is all well and good but it doesn't have the same meaning for the rest of us as it does for you.
His mods tend to be pretty popular so there are several user reviews, videos, what have you. Originally posted by Skyfighter:Just googling Medieval 2 Darth Mod will get you tons of information that is relatively more documented, if you care for it.
